  • What is HotShot?
What is HotShot, and what does it do for drivers?
HotShot's heated washer system quickly and efficiently removes ice, snow, frost, road grime, insects and other elements that smear, fog or cover windshield glass.
HotShot eliminates the need for drivers to stand outside their vehicles — in the bitter cold — trying to scrape ice, snow or frost from the windshield. HotShot GO (MH-34 SA) works on almost any make, any year, any vehicle — cars, trucks, vans, or school buses.
    How does HotShot work?
The system makes ice scrapers obsolete. HotShot 's patented heated fluid windshield clearing and de-icing solution enables drivers to remove snow, ice, road grime, insects, sticky pollen and leaves within seconds with the push of a button while sitting inside their vehicle.
The system works on all vehicles - cars, trucks, vans and school buses. It fits compactly under the hood and weighs only 1.1 pounds. HotShot's specialty is intelligently spraying the right amount of fluid at the right temperature at the right intervals using just the right amount of energy - all with the push of a button. HotShot operates in two modes - automatic and standby. Automatic is used for removing ice, snow, sleet, dirt and insects before driving. Washer fluid is sprayed 4-8 times at approximately 149°F, following an initial spray at 161.6°F. Standby is used to remove snow, sleet, ice build-up on wiper blades, and dirt, insects, etc. while driving. Washer fluid is sprayed "on-demand" at approximately 131°F.

HotShot is the only product with proprietary software, microprocessor and hardware that intelligently cycles heated washer fluid for efficient windshield de-icing and cleaning in under 90 seconds. Heated windshields, by contrast, take eight minutes to clear frost but don't remove insects and debris or clear wiper blades. Plus, they are substantially more expensive, require more power, and are expensive to replace should the windshield become cracked or damaged

What other benefits does HotShot offer?
When wiper blades are warmed by heated fluid, they work better and last longer.
This is due to the fact the rubber stays softer. It also eliminates the need to reach out of the window to snap ice off the blades. Wiper motors last longer as they operate under less strain from ice, snow, and heavy grime. You actually use less washer fluid because hot fluid removes sap and grime, rather than smearing it on the window creating a safety hazard. One other benefit is that a warm windshield inhibits the build up of fog and condensation on the inside of the windshield.
HotShot ir not just a winter product!
HotShot works just as effectively in warm weather and warm climates as it does in northern and cold weather climates.
Heated washer solvent does a superior job removing bugs, grime, bird droppings, tree sap, car wash wax, road oils and dirt.
    Is HotShot safe and reliable?
HotShot has been tested extensively under a variety of extreme weather conditions by the company’s own engineers, as well as engineers from some of the world’s largest automakers.
In test after test, in all weather conditions, HotShot has been proven safe and reliable by all evaluators. HotShot meets or exceeds all pertinent standards of The Society of Automotive Engineers. HotShot is also covered by a three-year warranty.

  • How HotShot works
How long does HotShot take to work?
HotShot delivers heated washer fluid — even in the worst weather and from a cold start.
From start-up, the first hot wash spray commences in about 30–45 seconds. In automatic or park mode, intermittent sprays of the heated washer fluid follow every 6–12 seconds up to 2.5 minutes, unless stopped by the touch of a button. Most importantly, the unit works independently of the vehicle's radiator and defroster systems, so there is no need for the vehicle to warm up. You have a clear windshield quickly.
Do I need to use special washer fluid?
    No.
HotShot works with all types of commercial washer fluids and solvents.
How hot does the fluid get?
The company's engineers have years of experience in developing solutions for electrically heating liquids and designing innovative heating products.
They determined the optimal temperature of the washer fluid to clear the windshield without causing the glass to crack or shatter. The fluid is sprayed at about 145 °F (63 °C). HotShot's engineers have determined the precise temperature required to clear away frost, ice, snow, tree sap, insect grime, oil, wax, road dust, and dirt.
    Will HotShot damage my windshield?
    No.
HotShot will not damage your windshield. Extensive tests by Microheat's engineers and automobile manufacturers have proven that HotShot will not crack, shatter, or in any way damage windshield glass.
    Will HotShot burn me?
No, the fluid sprayed by HotShot is hot to the skin but will not burn.
The volume of fluid, the spray patterns, and the temperature are such that you simply cannot be burned by HotShot.
Will HotShot damage my wiper blades?
    No.
In fact, wiper blades last longer with HotShot. Because HotShot's burst of steam and heated washer fluid frees frozen wiper blades and eliminates ice and snow build-up. HotShot removes frozen, uneven surfaces that damage or destroy wiper blades. HotShot actually improves the blades' effectiveness and extends their lives. Wiper motors also last longer because they use less solvent.
Will HotShot damage or scratch the paint or finish on my car or truck?
    No.
HotShot's heated fluid has been tested on all types of standard paints and finishes used in the auto industry. It does not scratch or dull the paint (even metallic) or affect the finish in any way.
Does HotShot work in subzero temperatures?
    Yes.
Our engineering teams have tested HotShot under extreme temperatures and conditions. Its performance in removing snow and ice, even in subzero conditions, is consistent and reliable.
    Will HotShot drain the battery?
HotShot is a microprocessor-based, fully self-contained heating device that runs off electricity generated by the vehicle's electrical system.
HotShot's software will disable the device if the vehicle's battery power drops below certain predetermined voltages that correspond with the symptoms of a drained or defective battery, a weak or non-functional alternator, or other electrical system problems. HotShot is compatible with 12 V electrical systems and will be compatible with other systems in the future.
What if I don't turn HotShot off?
    Nothing.
When you turn off your vehicle, HotShot will automatically shut off after a few minutes.
Does HotShot heat up the fluid that goes to a rear windshield?
If someone installs the Hotshot in a vehicle w/ front & rear windshield fluid nozzles (eg: Prius), they will most likely need to install a bypass kit, which is included w/ each HotShot unit.
The Hotshot will not heat the fluid going to the back windshield for the main reason that by the time it arrived there, it would be cold again. As you know, it does not heat up the reservoir tank. The bypass kit will allow regular washer fluid flow to the rear windshield but will not heat it and allow the Hotshot to do it's job providing hot fluid to the front windshield.
How effective is the HotShot for large trucks & fleets?
Drivers, dispatchers, and fleet managers won’t have to worry about road visibility all year long, even in the worst road conditions.
HotShot’s on demand benefits are the solution for all highway visibility issues, making it the number one choice for safety and schedule reliability amongst over the road truckers.
Why should you outfit your fleet vehicles w/ the HotShot?
We at Hotshot Direct feel that the HotShot is the premiere product for large fleets. Roadway visibility is one of the biggest concerns when driving in adverse conditions.
Whether it be snow, ice and road salt during the winter; or bugs, road grime and other contaminants during the warmer months, HotShot is the simple solution. HotShot will give you piece the piece of mind knowing your operators have the ability to see and react sooner to the hazards ahead. A clearer windshield will also increase your employees ability to keep driving schedules, which should actually make HotShot a key contributor to your profit and loss statements for years to come. We are sure you will find that HotShot will pay for itself in intangibles it the first few month of use.
My vehicle's nozzles seem to be oozing out wiper fluid, I haven’t activated my wiper fluid for a long time but I always notice big long streaks of fluid on my hood, what could be the issue?
The only time this should occur is when the system is activated in automatic mode.
When the system is activated in automatic mode, the system will first shoot a burst of steam through the system resulting in clearing of the washer lines which will cause the oozing of fluid out of the nozzles which in turn will be the source of the long streaks of fluid on the hood.
