Product Overview
IntelliBrake® is the next generation brake light system. It enables you to convey your braking intentions to other drivers following your vehicle. By indicating whether you are slowing down, stopping or emergency braking, you allow those drivers to react quickly and brake appropriately, reducing the chance of a rear end collision.
The IntelliBrake® light is mounted in the vehicle's rear window and can be installed either as a direct replacement for the existing center high mounted brake light, or in addition to it* (* provided that it is legal according to your state law). As the driver brakes harder, more light elements illuminate.

'Back-up feature'
Another important feature is the ability to detect failure of the standard brake light circuitry. In this highly dangerous situation your factory-fitted brake lights will not illuminate at all! The IntelliBrake® sensor will immediately detect this fault and engage a 'back-up' mode where the IntelliBrake® light will continue to function.

* These items have VHB tape attached, which is Very High Bond self-adhesive tape. With all the self-adhesive tape applications throughout the installation, wipe the areas to which you will be attaching the self-adhesive components with isopropyl alcohol and a dust free cloth. Once you have peeled off the protective film avoid touching the tape, as this will transfer the oil from your fingers onto the tape.
† The sensor has an 1/8" wire harness cable with RJ-11 connectors well as a nylon coated steel cable with a bead.
How IntelliBrake® Works
The sensor will be attached to a fixed position on the under-dash. The self restricting cable that emerges from the sensor will be attached to the brake pedal via the cable-mounting bracket. The sensor will measure the travel distance of the brake pedal to determine how hard the brake pedal is being pushed. The 1/8" wiring harness that emerges from the sensor is plugged into the junction box and the 3 wires that emerge from the junction box are connected to the vehicle's wiring harness. The 1/8" 15ft wire is connected between the junction box and the IntelliBrake® display light, which is mounted in the vehicle's rear window.
