What is the SAFELight?
The SAFELight is a brake light bulb that is a direct replacement for most brake light found in vehicles today. The SAFELight plugs in directly to your vehicle as a replacement for the bulbs that came from the factory. The SAFELight is a safety device that is designed to reduce the chances of another driver rear-ending you. This is accomplished several ways. First and foremost the SAFELight has a tiny computer inside it that can detect how quickly your car is stopping. If you are stopping normally the SAFELight functions in the same manner as any normal brake light bulb, but if you SLAM on the brakes and stop very quickly the SAFELight’s internal computer will recognize that you are performing an emergency stop and cause the brake light to flash warning (or waking up) the driver behind you to the fact that you are having to stop very quickly. The second way in which the SAFELight reduces the chances of someone rear-ending your vehicle is through utilization of LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes. These LEDs provide a very intense and focused light which will stand out to the driver behind you. Another benefit of the LED is that they essentially don’t burn out, making this the last brake light bulb you will ever have to buy. We guarantee it.
Why did we invent the SAFELight?
The C2 Innovations Team looked at several reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and discovered that the leading cause of death and damage to property in motor vehicle accidents was the result of rear-end collisions. We felt if there was anything that we could do to reduce the chances that some inattentive driver would crash into your car it would be very valuable. After looking at the problem we determined that it was very likely that people not paying attention to what was in front of them or taking too long to determine what was happening in front of them was likely the cause of many of these accidents. Therefore we developed a replacement brake light bulb that would tell people following you more about what you were doing by flashing when you stop quickly and also would provide a more focused and intense light to draw their attention back to the task at hand: driving.
How Can I Get It?
You can buy a 2007 Mercedes-Benz S-600 or you can buy a BMW 7-series. Or, you can replace the incandescent brake light bulb found in most vehicles with the SAFElight, a less expensive alternative.
Why would I want it?
To help prevent rear collisions, these attention-getting flashing systems give additional warning time to following drivers. Mercedes-Benz research says their lights help improve driver reaction times by as much as 0.2 second. The Safelight and the Mercedes system uses light-emitting diodes that are brighter and last longer than regular bulbs.
How Long do they Last?
We are so sure that they will last forever, we guarantee it! If you ever have a problem with the bulb you bought from us, simply return it to us with a copy of the sales receipt and, so we can solve any possible problems in the future, the year, make and model of the vehicle in which it was used. A new bulb will be sent to you.
Which bulbs do they replace?
Currently, we have replacements for the following double-filament incandescent bulbs for brake light purpose: 1157, 3157. and 7443.
The SAFElight can be easily installed by the owner of the vehicle. The Safelight is a low power device and some vehicles require the direction signal module to be replaced or load resistors be added to defeat the 'bulb out' warning. See your local auto parts store if you need any extra parts.
