The Halo features a globally patented “Halo Ring” ground electrode, with cutting-edge 360° Firing Technology that delivers superior burn characteristics for improved combustion, higher fuel efficiency, and optimum engine performance.

Unlike standard spark plugs that generate a spark at basically the same location each time, the Halo generates rotating sparks that fire in a 360° pattern around the circular electrode. This advanced firing system has several advantages, including better ignitability, durability, quicker initiation of the combustion process, maximum use of available fuel energy, reduced fouling and misfires, and virtually no gap erosion for a longer performance life.

In addition, the open ring design of the ground electrode plays a major role in helping to improve combustion efficiency. Since the flame kernel is not blocked by the ground electrode as in other spark plugs, it can travel freely through the ring into the combustion chamber, igniting the air/fuel mixture up to 30% faster than conventional spark plugs. In other words, more of the fuel is burned and converted into "work" before it is vented off by the exhaust valve.

This quicker initiation allows for a more complete burn of the fuel inside the combustion chamber. More Bang for Your Buck: Tests show that when the surface of the piston reaches top-dead-center (TDC) on the combustion stroke, the size of the flame front/head produced by the Halo Spark Plug is already six times the size of the flame front/head produced by conventional spark plugs. Halo also features rotating sparks, which virtually eliminates point/gap erosion (and consequent degradation in performance - usually beginning at about 2,000 miles in standard plugs), reduces build up and increases wear resistance for an extended performance life. The multiple firing path performance characteristic of the Halo design resists plug fouling better, since alternate paths can be found in the event deposits begin to form on the center electrode. If these deposits occur on a standard plug in the most common firing location, it often inhibits or prevents firing, since another path is less likely to be found.

The center electrode is made of an Yttrium alloy, which has been used in spark plugs for racing cars for years. Yttrium is a rare-earth metal that provides remarkable protection against heat corrosion and surface erosion, further enhancing the Halo's service life and performance. Since Yttrium is much easier to mine, requiring only a fraction of the raw earth material necessary to produce a Platinum plug, it's a better choice for the environment. Standard spark plugs must be gapped to ensure performance. This gapping is an inexact science at best and typically results in only one point of the standard side-wire electrode being at the properly specified distance from the center electrode. With the Halo, the gap is pre-set at the factory and never has to be adjusted, making it easy to install and maintain. This creates a consistent gap, which is always set for optimum engine performance.

Halo Plug offers drivers and fleets a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution to help increase fuel efficiency, maximize engine power, and reduce toxic emissions. We have had a few testimonials from people trying alternate fuels including Natural Gas, Hydrogen/Fuel Cells, Propane, and others. All of them are finding that the Halos burn the fuel mixture more completely. Therefore, even with 100% ethanol (i.e. E100), we are led to believe that the performance of the Halos will be superior to anything out there.

Turbo- & Supercharged vehicles: The maker doesn't warrant the plugs when they are installed in TurboCharged or SuperCharged vehicles. The plugs will work but in our experience, we have found that individuals with these types of performance enhancements typically run the vehicles at high RPM (greater than 6000) on a consistent basis. This type of high RPM scenario can cause an excessive build up of heat in the engine and lead to a damage of the plugs. These types of applications require special racing plugs. If the Turbocharged or SuperCharged engine is not used in a consistent high RPM scenario, then the plugs will work fine. Since we cannot control the actual usage of these types of engines, we cannot warranty the plugs for these applications.
