What is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive is a natural resin dissolved in isopropanol.
How does it work?
When sprayed onto the tires, the isopropanol evaporates,
cleans the tire tread of road grime and then leaves a thin layer of resin on the tire surface, improving adhesion, road grip and mobility.
How thick is the resin layer and does it wear off?
The resin layer is barely a millimeter thick and will gradually wear off during use -
particularly so when driving back on bare pavement, so that under normal conditions steering characteristics are not affected.
How long will it last?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive has been shown to retain some of its effectiveness for up to 50 miles (80.4 kilometers) on snowbound road surfaces.
Effectiveness wears off more quickly on rough, patchy ice and snow.
Can it harm the tires?
no adverse effects have been observed in exhaustive testing by leading tire manufacturers.
Is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive just for worn tires?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive works well on worn tires but newer tires also benefit from the extra tread.
Can the tires be over-treated?
No, because eventually the resin will wear off.
It is not suggested to spray an excessive amount of Tyre-Grip on the tires due to a longer drying time.
Can Tyre-Gripô Adhesive be applied the night before for use the next morning?
since freshly applied Tyre-Gripô works much better.
How long does it take to work?
It takes approximately 1-3 minutes,
depending upon weather & road conditions, and particularly air temperature. However, the process can be accelerated by briefly spinning the tires before carefully driving off.
Should I spray all four tires?
front, rear and four wheel drive cars should have all four tires sprayed.
How long is a spray can likely to last?
One Tyre-Gripô can gives up to 15-20 applications on front, rear or four wheel drive cars.
Also, applications may vary depending on the size of the tires.
How much is road grip increased?
By an amazing three times normal on wet (or black) ice at around +3įC (37.4įF) - when road conditions are the most slippery!
What is the shelf life of a can of Tyre-Gripô Adhesive??
A can will last indefinitely,
provided it is not kept in a damp atmosphere and allowed to corrode from the outside in.
Is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive harmful to car paint or bodywork?
Being a natural resin product it is non-corrosive and does not have any harmful effects in this respect.
Are the aerosol propellants harmful to the environment in any way?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive uses only ozone friendly gasses as propellants.
Has the product been independently tested and proven?
The services of R. D. Jablonsky, Inc. (Certified Professional Safety Engineer, State of CA.) was retained to test Tyre-Grip here in the U. S. and he wrote:
"The initial assignment for Triangle Associates was to perform a series of engineering tests to support the claims that Tyre-Grip would provide traction on snow and ice exceeding that of other devices. The preliminary investigative study demonstrated that thorough scientific engineering research; development and field-testing had been completed more than ten (10) years ago by the Norwegian State Technological Institute. Their scientific work more than adequately supports the claims for Tyre-Grip. Thus, the need for further tests was deemed unnecessary and replaced by the task of acquainting the various state agencies with Tyre-Grip as a highly cost effective method of providing snow and icy traction improvements." What other uses does Tyre-Gripô Adhesive has?
The product is also recommended for use on motorbike and bicycle tires.
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive may also be applied to rubber boots or rubber soled shoes for safer walking on snow and ice.
What happens if I accidentally get some of the solution on my hands?
Immediately wipe off with a soft rag or tissue dipped in methylated spirits or some other similar commercial solvent.
Or apply 1-3 drops of peanut oil directly to the area, rub, and remove with a clean cloth.
It works over in Norway, but will it work here in the United States?
This was convincingly demonstrated by the Tomorrow's World team in Nov 1987 when Peter McCann successfully drove a car treated with Tyre-Grip Adhesive around the Oxford 'Ice Rink' without skidding!
Why is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive rightly regarded as one of the "top" new winter products not just another gimmick?
Many years of careful research have gone into formulating just the right blend of natural resins. This blend remains stable and effective in solution at all temperatures.
- Tyre-Gripô Adhesive was developed in Norway as an alternative to spiked winter tires, which cause considerable pollution and heavy damage to road surfaces.
- The use of Tyre-Gripô Adhesive will help to reduce the number of accidents and deaths caused every winter by the sudden lack of adhesion on slippery ice and snow covered roads.
Is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive just another gimmick?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive was developed in Norway as an alternative to spiked winter tires, which cause considerable pollution & heavy damage to road surfaces.
Is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive a serious road safety product?
As was demonstrated at the recent Road Safety Exhibition "EURO-SAFE 88" held in London's pretigious Guildhall. The use of Tyre-Grip Adhesive will help to reduce the number of accidents & dealths caused every winter by the sudden lack of adhesion on slippery ice & snow covered roads.
In what other countries is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive now sold?
It is sold in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece & Japan and is now available in the USA & Canada.
When is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive most likely to come in handy?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive is particularly helpful on hills, when leaving and entering driveways and garages, and when driving from or onto untreated side roads.
How long has the product been on the market?
Tyre-Gripô Adhesive was first marketed in Norway in 1985/86.
Earlier less efficient Ďchemicalí versions of the product appeared previously from time to time, and no doubt cheap and ineffective imitations will appear in the future! So for safety always insist on the original, high-tech Tyre-Gripô Snow & Ice Adhesive!!
Is Tyre-Gripô Adhesive a substitute for careful winter driving?
Nothing can act as a substitute for careful use of the brakes, accelerator, clutch and steering wheel- but Tyre-Gripô can play an important role in improving road grip in difficult conditions.
